Shoes of Peace

Pin It Any kid who ever went to sunday school remembers Ephesians 6. "Put on the Full armor of God."  That was always a fun object lesson.

As a kid I loved the sword of the Spirit, the Helmet of Salvation, Shield of Faith! They were my favorite. The brestplate of righteousness and belt of truth followed behind. Dead last on the kid coolness radar was having my "feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace."

I had no idea what Shod meant at 6 years old anyway. ;)  (Gotta love the KJV)

Now looking back I find it so odd that Paul is painting a Picture of a warrior that is going to both Fight and Withstand ALL THE WILES/WORKS OF THE DEVIL, yet we are to walk in shoes of peace.

We are meant to walk in Peace... and that can be hard.

I know how to use the Sword/Word. I know about Truth and Righteousness and Faith. I have received God's free gift of Salvation.   What I have trouble with is peace!

Looking past the tensions of life and seeing Peace is not something I'm good at doing. Walking in peace with my brothers and sisters in Christ is often difficult. Experiencing Peace that passes understanding isn't always easy for me.

As I do ministry I need to be aware of God's peace. If the Peace of God is not present then it should send off an alarm.  If I'm leading a rehearsal and don't feel that peace then I should stop. I'm suppose to be walking, experiencing Life in Peace.

It's great if you play skillfully, sing powerfully, preach passionately or whatever Spiritual Gift you can be used in... We are meant to walk in Peace.

If we lack that peace... We are an immobile Soldier.
