Refresh

Pin It  Stumbled upon this Video. (By the way if you aren't using STUMBLE-UPON you should check it out. I find cool, interesting, and helpful internet sites all the time with it.)

I love how they take simple common place computer sounds and make something special and interesting. We hear our Computers make these sounds so often that we become deaf to them... we stop noticing. The artist in this video takes what we discard with our ears and makes a new song out of it... and we start listening again. In fact... now it becomes impossible to ignore.

Still looking for the Book of Hezekiah...
This makes me think of the Church. We have been telling the same story!  Over and Over and Over!  We have to keep telling the story of Jesus!  That's what will save people and change hearts!  ...BUT if we aren't careful, the very telling of the story could become common place.  That would be a huge shame if we let the story of the Lord of Glory become a discarded commonplace sound.

Jesus quotes the Prophet Isaiah here... Matthew 13:14-16
“‘You will be ever hearing but never understanding;
   you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.
15 For this people’s heart has become calloused;
   they hardly hear with their ears,  (KJV says: ears are dull of hearing)
   and they have closed their eyes.
Otherwise they might see with their eyes,
   hear with their ears,
   understand with their hearts
and turn, and I would heal them.’
   16 But blessed are your eyes because they see, and your ears because they hear.

I think this describes a great portion of the Church in the USA today. We seemingly have a church on every street corner. The meet each week and speak Truth from scripture... but are people hearing? Part of it is the culture we are living in today bringing apathy among other things... sure... but that's not all.

I think we, THE CHURCH
have to find a way to regain/refresh
the hearing of the Gospel.
I'm NOT saying we change the scripture or water down a message... Instead we take the same unchanged Truth and contextualize it, we dramatize it, we electrify it, amplify it... We make the unchanged NEW AND FRESH.  Impossible to ignore...

What are some of the things you have been doing to keep the display of the Gospel New and Fresh?
