The Unthinkable

I have been in a weird place lately.. I haven't been blogging as regularly..

Sorry about that.

Here is why...

The Unthinkable happened!

We all have a few Unthinkables... The things we don't want to think about happening.  We say to ourselves "If that ever happened..." and we often can't finish that sentence because it's too painful.

You better know what your unthinkables are.

It doesn't do any good to ignore these outcomes.  It is not an act of faith to shelve them deep down in your heart. It doesn't dishonor God to think about the unthinkable.

My Unthinkable came as a surprise... they always do... kinda

My Senior Pastor resigned unexpectedly and I feel like I'm trying to hold the church together.  I am very worried about the flock and feel responsible for the stability of this church.

I would covet your prayers - For myself, my family, our Church body, and our former Pastor.

I'm feeling a lot of things...  Here they are in no particular order..

Guilt, worry, nervousness, anger, hurt, grief, frustration, resent...

Your Faith/Relationship better be stronger than your unthinkable.

I'm not saying you respond perfectly, or that you don't get angry or worried.. Nor do you put on a fake mask  of calmness when on the inside you are seriously freaking out...  These things aen't your Faith!  These things aren't nearly as important as the Prayer of Jesus for Peter.

Luke 22:31-32 (nkjv)the Lord said, “Simon, Simon! Indeed, Satan has asked for you, that he may sift you as wheat. 32 But I have prayed for you, that your faith should not fail; and when you have returned to Me, strengthen your brethren.”

Jesus didn't pray against the unthinkable. (Sometimes the unthinkable is suppose to happen) Jesus didn't pray that Peter would make right decisions when the unthinkable happened.

Jesus prayed that when the unthinkable happened that Peter's faith should not fail. Jesus even goes on to say "when you have returned to me" not "when I have returned to you."  Jesus is saying that when the unthinkable happens you may walk away from Christ - But your Faith - should it not fail - can bring you back.

  • Identify your unthinkables.
  • Is your faith strong enough?
