Nothing is more powerful than placing Christ in His rightful place. Nothing!
Our worship services ought to place Christ in His rightful place! Do they? In case you haven't noticed... Jesus is kind of a Big deal...
We should focus our congregants toward Jesus. We want them to honor who He is, what He has done, is doing and will do, and the promises He has made to us.
There are a lot of things fighting for our attention and focus! Because of this, it is easy to see why our ministries might be lacking a Christ Focus.
I have heard worship described as Contemporary, Traditional, Black Gospel, Modern Rock... These are styles... I like musical style, but I live or die on FOCUS! I like flashing LED par Cans... but I live or die on FOCUS!
As Worship Leaders, Pastors, Service Producers, Songwriters.etc... We should endeavor to capture both hearts and minds with the Love story that is Jesus Christ.

I think we do this, sometimes...
...But I think the church landscape of today becomes more focused on what ministries are doing than on Christ. It's kinda like everyone in the classroom cheating off each other's homework... Hopefully the original paper was right or we will all fail the assignment.
It's good, even important, to be on a search for new creativity, great ideas, and new methods... just remember to first and foremost... Be on a search for Christ. Make him the center of your ministry and your daily personal life.
This isn't an excuse to mail in a boring, uninspired, passionless service and claim that you only focus on Jesus and not artistic excellence. Music transitions, styles, pitch, and musical competency are not unimportant... but they are no substitute for the Big Deal - Jesus.
Let's place Jesus in His rightful place.

How do you keep Jesus at the Center?

How do you fail at keeping Him central... what is trying to take that spot?I'd love to hear from you on this subject.

I completely agree. I love it when musical excellence and creativity shines during a worship service, but if Jesus isn't the center and FOCUS how is it any different then any other concert?
