5 things about Energy

Things have been fast paced for me lately. For you who are working in ministry I'm sure you could say the same.

I've been thinking a lot about Energy. Here are 5 things I've come up with.

1. Energy is not constant.
The energy of individuals and organizations is never at a constant level. There will upswings and downturns. As leaders we have to understand this and be able to see the energy pattern of people and even ourselves.


2. Energy brings success. Success brings energy X2!
Energy is necessary for success. Success energizes everyone!
Perhaps we need to do a better job of celebrating our success. It's that understanding that, "wow our hard work is really paying off..." that causes energy to be taken up a notch.

3. Energy is not free.
It is going to cost someone something. It might cost your family, it might cause you time, it might cost you your normal routine.
We could all do a better job of recognizing the energetic workers around us. Realize what it is costing them.


4. Not everything is worth your energy!
This will sound mean... but I'll go a step further... Some people aren't worth your energy.
Since we only have so much energy, it is important that we use it on the most worthwhile priorities.


5. Energy is Worship.
Be careful what you are giving energy to... Energy is passion, dedication, honor, worship...

There are overweight people who mean to do better, but the continue to give Energy to something that could kill them.  Don't honor something that does you damage.

On the other hand, we can give energy to something that gives life back to us. We can give energy to the someone who energizes us. In this way energy becomes something more than working hard... When energy is used correctly it becomes worship to the Creator.
