Hard to believe it's been almost 2 years... |
I've had a hard time getting away from church, for a number of reasons...
#1 I love the Church! Even when I'm not there, I'm still there in thought, heart, and spirit.
#2 We are a young church plant. Sometimes the Church is really firing on all cylinders, and sometimes it still feels like it could fall apart. Because of this I have a real hard time missing. I feel so... RESPONSIBLE for the life of this church.
These are actually UNHEALTHY things. They don't feel unhealthy. They may seem healthy that I'm so dedicated to the Church. BUT make no mistake about it, it is unhealthy. I'll try to explain quickly...
- We are to love the Church and serve the Church, but not above the Love of God and family. If I haven't taken time to be with my family and give them my undivided attention, then I'm in big error!
- It's admirable to feel some responsibility for the Church. After all, God has made us overseers (Acts20:28). However, remember Psalm 127! "Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it" The Church doesn't rise and fall on me, it rises and falls on the LORD! There can actually be some false humility and pride working in me if I think that the Church rises and falls on me and my efforts. **This doesn't mean we aren't important and our efforts unimportant... It just means that God is the master builder and we are there when he asks for the wrench.**
- The church needs to learn how to survive without me. My worship arts team needs to be able to make ministry without me. By missing or simply stepping aside sometimes it allows others to step up. For instance we have a young lady who is going to handle the Worship leading this sunday. She is very talented, kingdom minded, and has a heart for people... How terrible would it be not to put her forward?

I'll never forget my last family Vacation to Wally World... |
I can't wait to hear about the great things God does in the house in my absence!

ROCK ON wise words spoken as though they were 75 years your elder! Good for you. You have a beautiful young family and you are so blessed to have a close knit extended one. Great job in carrying both of those as treasures and trusting God with His church. :) (We did okay-but it was just ok without you :)
