1 Corinthians 3:9 (KJV)"For we are labourers together with God"

Is your ministry theme song "All By Myself?" |
Have you ever felt Alone in ministry? Maybe you haven't ever felt that... but take a moment to look around.
A lot of the ministry we do is alone, solo, by ourselves with no one else around.
I spend hours practicing - ALONE. I spend hours communicating with volunteers, planning services, and charting tunes - ALONE. I spend hours editing videos and other creative arts work - ALONE. And my devotional time I spend ALONE with God.
If we do ministry alone then we are doing it wrong.
The Lord sent His disciples out Two by Two yet don't we do much of our work one by one?
1 Corinthians 3:9 Paul writes that "we are labourers together." The New International Version uses the word Co-workers. The GREAT Apostle Paul considers himself your co-worker. That makes me smile. :)
I feel a real challenge to be a go co-worker, to work along side my brothers and sisters. I usually do the bulk of my work huddled behind my laptop and not along side anyone. Do my fellow labourers perhaps feel as alone as I do?
I love 1 Cor 3:9. We are labourers together! I pray that everyone in my worship arts team feels the togetherness of fellow workers. Isn't that what a connected life in the body of Christ should be? Maybe I should take time in a busy rehearsal to make sure that we feel the togetherness that God intends for us to have.
I got to say, if 1 Cor 3:9 ended with "We are labourers together" and stopped right there it would still be a one of my favorite ministry scriptures of all time! It doesn't stop there however! It goes on to say... "With God."
I always have felt like we are working for God. He's the boss we are the servants/slaves. Right here in verse 9 Paul says we are working WITH GOD! God is a Co-Worker. That changes everything.
I pray that you my fellow labourers not only feel the togetherness of men and women beside you doing the work of ministry, but that you feel God right beside you. That you realize even as you are huddled behind that laptop you are not alone. God is right there. He's working around you, through you, and in you. He is working WITH you.
If we aren't recognizing the TOGETHER factor in ministry we are missing it! If we don't recognize God is doing the work WITH us, we are missing it!
Together With...
------------------------------So I ask you. What do we need to change in our ministries to bring about more of a together factor with our brothers and sisters? How can we keep at the forefront of our mind that we are doing ministry "with" God and not just for Him?
