Microsoft wanted to display their product in the best light. Show the world how the "Surface" was ready to be their answer to the iPad. So they invited the world to see the new tablet in action...
Not surprisingly... things go downhill after the words "Internet Explorer."
My favorite part is around the 41 second mark. It's clear that he is meeting eyes with someone and sending a secret message "PLEASE HELP!!!" I think anyone who depends on technology in live situations has had a moment like this... I know I've experienced it myself within the church.
There once was a time when someone turned pre-service music off in the house but left it going in our in-ears! I was desperately trying to give our sound guy that "PLEASE HELP" look as I tried to kick off our first song. Ever been there?
What came to my mind as I watched this video is this - The product fails when it doesn't fulfill expectation. "I can browse smoothly..." as he fumbles with the tablets frozen screen.
This made me think of Christianity as a product. I think the world has seen Christianity touted as one thing but fails to live up to that expectation. When we proclaim the product of Jesus but don't show love, that's a failure. Who would want that product?

If Christ is our Lord and we proclaim Him to live within us then the Character of Christ would be on display.
If our Church proclaims to be about Christ yet He isn't anywhere to be found - that would be a product failure. Even if our services are slick trendy cool they fail without Christ. Our personal lives fail as well. If Christ is our Lord and we proclaim Him to live within us then the character of Christ would be on display. If others don't see Christ in us it comes across as a huge product failure.
Of course we aren't selling Jesus, hawking him like old ties at a flea market... but we are promoting Him. We are putting Him on display. We are demonstrating His ability. We are His advertisement. (2 Cor 3:2)
The next time we take to our ministry stage let us think about properly putting the product (Jesus) on display.
