The Picture I commented on |
- Chris Fluitt I'm aware of this CA. I'm referring to Christian being a follower of Christ - Christ was not hateful. His followers shouldn't be either.
- CAUmmmm. You are mistaken:
But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. — Luke 19:27
Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword. -Matthew 10:34
And he said unto them ... Ye reject the commandment of God ... For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death. -Mark 7:9-10
And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. -Luke 12:47 - Chris Fluitt Not trying to sell or buy any bridges CA. I am not mistaken. Luke 19 - Parable. Luke 12 - Parable. A parable is a story that teaches a message through symbolism. You are quoting these 2 passages like it is Jesus saying hateful things.
Matthew 10 is taken out of context. Jesus is being symbolic here. No where did he ever start a physical war... he chased money changers once... but he was against attacking and killing. He rebuked Peter for cutting off a soldier's ear with a sword... He said if you live by the sword you die by the sword. The context here is that he was sending out his 12 disciples and was telling them that it wasn't always going to be a peaceful easy time. The sword imagery was not about physical violence. - Chris Fluitt Mark 7 - Jesus is quoting Moses and you aren't seeing the context
- CAAs an example, when Jesus was tempted by Satan in Luke 4, He answered by quoting the Old Testament. If God’s commands in Deuteronomy 8:3; 6:13; and 6:16 were not literal, Jesus would not have used them and they would have been powerless to stop Satan’s mouth, which they certainly did acording to the text.
- Chris Fluitt so that is jesus being hateful... how? He was talking to pharisees about the law that they weren't keeping themselves but were using to judge others and stone them.
Jesus - Love you enemies... pray for them... if someone asks for your shirt give them your jacket as well... forgive them father they know not what they do... love your neighbor as yourself... whoever hates is brother is a murderer.. you are my disciples if you love...
From what I see in the bible Jesus is not hate but love... granted some professing Christians are hateful - thus the sign works... I'd like to go on record that I prefer kind athiests to hateful christians as well. Also open minded athiests rather than closed minded Christians - Chris Fluitt thanks for the talk CA. Let's agree to disagree and go our ways peacefully and not blow up Dan's picture anymore. have a good night.
