4 Questions every Volunteer has... Can you answer them?

We've been talking about Worship Team Auditions...

There are able bodied people in your church right now.
There are people with Talents and Gifts in your church.
There are people who want to be a part of the ministry of your church.

But even though they want to, these people don't always get involved.

Before volunteers get involved they need to have their questions answered...

  • What will this cost?
  • Why is this worth the cost?
  • How do I start?
  • How do I stop?
Do you know the answers?

What will this cost?  It will cost Time, Energy, Focus, Priority... The volunteer needs to know about Rehearsal and Call times. They need to know you expect them to come prepared. They need to know that they will be a representative of the church and that requires accountability.

Why is this worth the cost? They need to know that this ministry isn't for everyone. It's not worth the cost for everyone. Everyone must count the cost if they want to be involved. It's worth it because you will be walking in service to the Kingdom of God. It's worth it because you are using your gifts and passion for something greater than yourself.

How do I start? Tell them about the audition and where to sign up. Tell them they might not start on the big stage, but that you will supply a proper starting point. Tell them what is to be expected on the audition.

How do I stop? This one is often over looked. Many volunteers don't take the jump because they are worried they won't enjoy it and will have committed to something they will end up hating. Make it easy to stop by covering it before they start. "It is ok to stop" is something every volunteer needs to know going in.

  • What are other questions that need to be answered?
  • How do you supply the answers to your volunteers questions?
