Happy July 4th everyone! I hope you are having a great day!
I was feeling Patriotic so I decided to share 5 reasons I'm Proud to be an American.
5. A nation founded on Courage!
Take a moment to think about the guys who signed their name to the Declaration of Independence... They could have very well been signing their death sentence. That group of men... not a nation with an advanced government structure and military systems... a group of men signed a document that was viewed by England as a declaration of war. These guys had guts! When was the last time you and a few buddies declared war on a nation?? Ha! Got to love their courage.
"America was not built on fear. America was built on courage, on imagination and an unbeatable determination to dothe job at hand." - President H.S. Truman
4. Our Judicial System
Our court systems get criticized all the time. I don't always have the best things to say about our judicial system... However, I think it is the world's best legal system.
The right to defend yourself in court, to be innocent until proven guilty, to be judged by a jury of fellow citizens... these are rights we take for granted.
3. Our Election Process
We don't always like the outcome, but the right to vote for our countries leadership is truly a gift!
2. Crazy Freedom!
Want to talk bad about this country? You can! Want to worship God as you see fit? Go for it. Want to start a business? Ok! Want to picket a government building with mean ugly signs? You can do it all day.
America gives us freedom the rest of the world dreams about. We even have the freedom to leave this country and go to another.
1. Military men & women who put themselves in harms way.
I hate war. I do think it is a necessary evil in this world... but I don't celebrate war. I do celebrate our service men and women. Our nation doesn't force people through a draft, our great nation has great people who offer years of their life to serve and protect.
What makes you proud to be an American?
