Receiving Feedback and Input...

I care what people think when it comes to ministry. I welcome input from anyone who cares enough to give it...

... However, not all input is equal. After service I take specific time to receive input from 3 sources.

1) What does God think about the day?

2) What does the Pastor (Or my direct supervisor) think about the day?

3) What did the sound man think about the day?

I trust these 3 individuals more then I trust my own opinion or the opinion of my worship team, and that is saying a lot. I always seek out this feedback and weigh it heavily.

This is how I weigh all the input I receive:

  • The more invested people are, the higher the value I place on their input.
  • Their understanding of vision makes their input more valuable.
  • If I smell a hint of manipulation or selfish motive it greatly devalues that input.

Listen Up
I try my best to take time to thank everyone for their input even when it is not what I want to hear. This isn't easy, but it's the best thing to do. Being dismissive or defensive doesn't help the process.

Do you actively seek input? If so, from whom?
Do you have any tips on receiving input?
