What are you known for...?

Pirate Wave
Each day a father would stand by the road and wait for his son's bus to pass on it's way to school. The father would stand there and wave to his son. Things start to escalate when everyday of the school year the father is dressed in a different costume waving to his son. The family decides to start a blog chronicling each days wave called Wave at the Bus!

A simple wave went from something very few people would ever notice to something that has been featured on Yahoo!'s front page and received millions of page views.  What caused others to notice?

1 Stand out from the crowd
I'm sure other dads have waved at school buses... But this one did it with Flare!

2 Be Consistent
This guy didn't miss a day! Because he never missed he built expectation!

3 Have a Purpose
He didn't do this everyday so he could have a successful blog... He did it out of a goofy funny love for his son.

Through these 3 steps this Dad become known to more than just his intended audience!

Question: What are you known for?
What is your organization, your business, your church known for?

DO NOT think you need to start doing something new! Most often we need to do what we are already doing in a new way. The father was already waving, he just found a way to take it to a new level.

Ask yourself "How can I do this differently?"
"How can we stand out from the crowd?"
You have to do something to set yourself a part.

If you are different but still not succeeding, perhaps your problem is consistency! It doesn't matter how outstanding you are, if you don't always deliver you will likely fail.

Finally, you need to actually have a purpose. If your nifty business' purpose is to take money and hand out a product then why should someone talk about your business? Instead, if your business has a purpose beyond the product then everyone will talk about it.  Toms Shoes anyone?

We are living in a crazy time where anyone can be known. Go out there and make your passion known.
