As Christians we must be pointing people to Jesus Christ. Too often we point them to our Church, our ministry, our talent, our facility, our vibe...
As Worship Leaders we have an opportunity to craft Jesus Christ centered services. To do this we ourselves must be focused on Christ!
...It would also help if we know who Jesus is...
With that in mind I'm starting a new series on 360WLO - Christology, which is the study of the nature and person of Jesus Christ. Every week I'll be posting about the nature and person of Christ using scriptures from the Bible.
Week #1 is His Eternal Nature.
ETERNAL.
Isaiah 9:6 "Everlasting Father"
Micah 5:2 "origins are from of old, from ancient times" ; "From Everlasting"
John 8:58 "Before Abraham... I AM"
1 John 5:11 "God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son"
Revelation 1:8 "Alpha and Omega" (Beginning and End) "who is, and who was, and who is to come"
The Everlasting Father is one of my favorite descriptions of Jesus. Isaiah 9:6 speaks about a Child, a Son who is the Everlasting Father. This blows my mind. The Eternal God, Father of Creation, found in the child, the son. Gosh! How and why do we relegate the story of the incarnation to Christmas!!?
One more thought... Our LORD will be alive and well 8 Trillion years from now. We should know Him far better by then... right? He will still be just as worthy of honor and praise... He does not diminish.
Open up your Bible and dive into Christ! Let me know of any passages that attest to the Eternal Nature of our King.
