5 Things I do to Spark Creativity!

Pin It I love it when creativity is flowing thru me and God's Church! It is so energizing and exciting! Whether a sacred or secular work environment it is undeniable that creativity is a driving force.

New Ideas = Priceless
On the other hand... It's really a struggle when it's not there.

I believe any organization needs creativity.

What can you do to inspire creativity in yourself?

Here are some things I do...
1. Surf the Web!
Given that I have a limited supply of time and that the WWW is accessible 24/7 from home, office, or standing in line in the grocery store... I do this one the most!  Here are some I frequent...
http://www.instructables.com/  A great DIY network.
http://www.ted.com/  You can watch someone talk about almost any subject.
StumbleUpon
I heart Stumble Upon!
http://www.worshiphousemedia.com/  Find some cool Christian Media!
Pandora.com  or  http://www.last.fm/   Listen to new music
Also!  Try StumbleUpon!!! There is no telling what you will find!

2. Let my eyes see something new!
Go to a museum, or take in a concert.
Watch a movie, or read a book.

You can get plenty of free concerts at the nearby college. It might open up some new music contacts as well.

3. Put myself in new surroundings!
Go for a walk! Go to a different mall or store. Go to the park and just walk around.
It's exercise that will inspire creativity!

4. Find a quiet place.
Allows us to decompress and allows room for God to talk to us.

5. Talk to people. Different people!
I have one friend named Daniel who isn't a Christian, works on computers, has opposite political and social views than I have...  He is good for me to be around. I can't talk to this guy without sparking some creativity. He has different language than what I hear sitting around our staff meeting table.

All these things have something in common for me. They all expose me to something different. I think DIFFERENCE is key when trying to spark creativity.
